Growing Old Gracefully: The Transgender Experience is a documentary film in production that highlights the trials many transgender people face when growing older. The film features the true life stories of five transgender elders, who are currently dealing with many of the issues that come with age, and also includes interviews with trans activists such as Jamison Green, and doctors and researchers.
Scheduled for completion by September 2012, Growing Old Gracefully will be released for distribution in the fall. Director and Producer Joe Ippolito and Producer/Cinematographer/Editor Kandis Hutcherson plan to enter the film in both national and international film festivals, and hope to use it as an educational tool with health care professionals and post-secondary and higher education institutions.
The film is a winner of the Leeway Foundation Arts and Change grant.
