Stop the presses!
A couple of weeks ago I received the latest copy of On Our Backs, my favourite dyke sex mag. On page 7 of the Dec/Jan 2002 issue is a woman who will be featured in an upcoming On Our Backs pictorial.
What’s cool about this?
I’m glad you asked.
She is a trans woman!
On Our Backs has a history of being a pretty radical dyke sex publication. Over the last few years they’ve actually had quite a few articles about trans guys, which is fantastic considering that lesbian space is really the only space in which trans guys are more visible than trans women. It hasn’t come without the moaning and hand wringing that always seems to happen when dykes are faced with the issue of trans men, but in general On Our Backs has done a good job of acknowledging and including the boys.
And really, how can you go wrong with a magazine that has articles such as “How To Suck Dyke Dick” and “Hard-core Handballers?”
Of course, being a trans dyke, I’m faced with the issue of being one of the least visible types of dykes, often ignored or actively excluded by non-trans dykes. This sucks, but I’ve (mostly) learned to deal with it.
So you can imagine how excited I was to see this woman in On Our Backs! I encourage all other trans dykes and the people who love us to write to the folks at On Our Backs and thank them for making such a bold move. And make sure to pick up a copy of the issue that features our sister— I’ll let everybody know when it comes out! (Har har, little pun there.)
Rock on,
Pandora
PS: This column wasn’t sponsored by On Our Backs. In fact, On Our Backs probably doesn’t even know who I am. They should, though, because I’d give ’em a killer pictorial!
